Les celliers de Meknès

Villes impériales, villages, paysages et savoir-faire à découvrir autour de Fès.

Les celliers de Meknès is the most well-known brand in Morocco, part of which is produced in an estate called Roslane. The wine is a Guerrouane produced in the Meknès region, a few kilometers from Fès. The Atlas hillsides were established by the French in the 1960s and were later taken over by a Moroccan, and today 85% of Morocco’s production is produced by his group. Riad Jamaï invites you to discover this industrial facility during your excursion west of Fès, an educational and tasty stop that is very interesting.

Guerrouane, the quintessential Moroccan wine.

The grape varieties of the Roslane estate that you can visit during your stay are Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Syrah. Some of the wines produced are made from Chardonnay grapes. Here you will find the French grape varieties planted when the estate was created. This visit is led by a member of the management team for about an hour. The month of September is a busy time as it corresponds to the estate’s grape harvest, but it is very interesting to follow the process from harvest to barreling.

A magnificent cellar near Meknès

During the visit, you will discover an absolutely magnificent underground cellar with thousands of barrels and interesting lighting for a few photos. Before that, you will pass through the old concrete vats built by the French during the colonial era but now replaced with more modern techniques. The estate has complete facilities and excellent standards to produce a quality Guerrouane.

A tasting at Morocco’s largest production facility

You will finish the visit with a tasting of red, rosé and sparkling wine in a lounge of the Roslane estate with a view of a pool and olive groves. This moment is enjoyable thanks to the quality of the products served and the idyllic setting of the estate. Security is strict and it is best to contact the Riad Jamaï team to book your visit in order to notify and inform the guards at the entrance.

An original visit during your stay in Morocco

This is not the first idea that comes to mind when traveling in Morocco, but this idea deserves to be considered. It is part of the heritage of Morocco and the Fès region, and the estate opens its doors with a reasonable admission fee. This visit is part of the Meknès, Volubilis and the potters excursion during a full-day trip with our taxi partner (link to partner)
