Henna Tattoo
Un motif marocain réalisé au henné, directement au sein de la maison d’hôtes.
Riad Jamaï offers several activities typical of Morocco, and henna tattooing is one of them. The riad’s team has the possibility of bringing women from Fez to the guesthouse who can tattoo you. Originally, henna tattooing was used for religious purposes, but it is now very much an aesthetic art. This graphic art from Morocco is used all over the world; you will only have Moroccan patterns tattooed, which will become part of your memories from your stay in Fez.
Henna Hand Tattooing:
The paste used for henna tattooing is black henna. It comes from dried leaves which are then blended to make a black powder. Essential oil and orange blossom water are then added to the powder to form a paste ready to be applied using a piping bag. The texture of the paste is important so that it can be easily applied to the skin, and it must not run after application. This henna paste can be slightly warmed before being applied to the skin for a more pronounced color.
Duration of the Tattoo:
The time it takes to tattoo the hand and forearm is about 15 to 20 minutes. The application time requires a bit more rest time so the henna can mark the skin. You will have the choice to have your hands, forearm, or even the top of your foot tattooed. The tattooed patterns remain on the skin for about 2 weeks, gradually the color fades until it disappears after about 3 weeks.
No Pain:
Henna tattooing causes no pain during application; it is similar to paint applied to the skin for religious or aesthetic purposes. It is also not painful to remove, using soap and a glove to fade the tattoo’s colors. Some precautions should be taken for people who are allergic to essential oils, almond, and orange blossom water.
The Price:
A henna tattoo can range between 40dh and 60dh per person, to be paid to the female tattoo artist.
La pâte est appliquée sur la peau sans aiguille : le tatouage au henné est temporaire.
