Immouzer Marmoucha
Villes impériales, villages, paysages et savoir-faire à découvrir autour de Fès.
A little less than two hours’ drive from Imouzzer Kandar, you will discover Imouzer Marmoucha, named after the great Berber tribe of the Marmouchas, and located at 1,713 meters altitude, at the far end of the Middle Atlas towards Taza.
In this mountainous, pre-alpine landscape, immense forests of oaks, cedars, and other endemic trees enhance the beauty of Mount Bou Iblane, the second highest peak of the Middle Atlas, where eternal snows once rested: a magical setting that leaves no one unmoved!
The Sebou River from the Saïss Plain to the Rif
This generous and rustic nature also hosts a clever water system made up of both dry riverbeds and springs, whose abundance during flood periods partly contributes to the formation of the Sebou River, whose basin, shaped like a bowl, irrigates the Saïss plain (Meknes-Fez) and the Gharb. The Sebou River covers an area of 40,000 km, bordered by the Rif to the north, the Middle Atlas to the south, the Taza pass to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
The Prehistory of Morocco, Mesklate Aït Bazza
Finally, if you venture a little further, six kilometers towards Missour, you will come across the site of Mesklate – Aït Bazza, which is full of bones from several varieties of dinosaurs discovered over several kilometers overlooking the village of Aït Bazza. The sites are accessible, but it is recommended to contact the local site manager before setting off to discover this extraordinary sanctuary!
