Solarium

Un espace ouvert sur le ciel de Fès pour profiter du soleil et des lumières de la médina.

When our guests choose Morocco as their destination, it is partly to come and seek the sun that shines in the sky of Fez. The guest house offers a terrace covering the entirety of its 2nd floor with a breathtaking view over the medina of Fez. Also called a solarium by Westerners, this space allows guests to enjoy in the evening the warmth given off by the terracotta while having a quiet drink.

Sunset over the old town of Fez

Riad Jamaï must be the only one to offer a sunset over the medina of Fez. For two reasons, the sunset is unique: the house is built on 2 floors and overlooks the Andalusian quarter, and the other reason is related to its 360° orientation on the east side of the medina of Fez, so the sun greets each guest of Riad Jamaï every evening.

The call to prayer of the medina’s muezzins

What an exceptional spectacle it is to listen to the muezzins’ call to prayer echoing across the medina, and what a wonderful « game » it is to guess which of the 300 minarets is making the call. From the terrace, a great number of minarets are visible, each with its own style, architecture and size. They are the guardians of the medina and one of the signatures of this imperial city.

An intimate terrace with different lounges

The terrace runs all the way around the halqa, the ring of the patio opening, and was modified from its original design so as to offer a breathtaking view over the medina of Fez from this riad in Fez in the Andalusian quarter, but also to be able to welcome several groups in different spots on the solarium. There are 4 different terrace levels, each with suitable furnishings. The highest terrace features a canopy bed, the intermediate terrace faces west toward the medina with two lounges and coffee tables. The lowest terrace offers loungers for relaxing, and the final terrace, at the arrival level, is equipped with chairs and tables for dining.
