Fes Saïss Airport
The airport of the city of Fès is located south of this region called Fès Boulemane. The Fès terminal is about 35 minutes from the medina heading towards the Immouzer road, two roads lead to the airport either through the industrial districts on the outskirts of the city, or through the new town via Avenue Hassan II. The terminal is 25 minutes from the new town of Fès.
A new terminal for a new dimension of the city of Fes
The new terminal opened in 2017 is a true architectural marvel created by the Moroccan civil engineering teams. After long months of waiting and finalization of Fes terminal 2, the airport now has an exceptional facility to open up to the world and to travelers thirsty for the history of Morocco. With large spaces, smooth traffic flow, and services integrated into the terminal, Fes airport meets international travel standards.
A refined style, Made in Morocco
The photos of the new Fes Saïss building speak for themselves, it is a blend and a showcase of the best of Moroccan craftsmanship: Moucharabieh, zellige, sculpted plaster. As soon as you set foot on Fes ground, you will be immersed in this oriental splendor where the tradition of the masters is passed down from generation to generation. Within riad fes Jamaï, you will find this same respect for Moroccan craftsmanship with noble materials worked by local teams: zelliges, plasters, moucharabiehs, fabrics, leather…
Terminal with Duty Free and bar
Before departing from Fès Saïss airport, you can grab a last coffee on the upper floor of the airport where a bar is available with a view over the runways. Once through customs on departure from Fès, you can do some shopping in one of the Duty Free shops in the terminal. An international brand ready-to-wear shop of 30m2 offers a few models, next to which a second shop with spirits, cigarettes and chocolates will tempt all travelers in the boarding hall.
Arrival at Fes airport
Upon leaving the plane, the Fès terminal has pedestrian access leading to a first waiting hall for customs. Before presenting yourself at Moroccan customs, it is important to fill in the document available at the counters at the entrance of the terminal. The information requested includes personal details, your place of residence in Morocco and flight information.
Withdrawing dirhams and taxis to the medina of Fès
After passing through the customs counters with your passport, you will have on it a new stamp signed by Fès Saiss airport. You will then be in the baggage hall with the conveyor belt, where several people offer to carry luggage for the most heavily loaded travelers. In this area of the terminal, you can exchange your country’s currency for dirhams. Once again, a customs gate closes off this baggage hall and you will find dirham cash dispensers just after.
Taxis are the last stage of your journey through the terminal, after passing through customs, collecting your suitcase and passing beyond the gate, getting some dirham bills, you will be dazzled by the Moroccan sun. Indeed, right at the exit you will find some taxi drivers offering to take you towards the new town or the medina. At Riad Jamaï, we recommend booking in advance to ensure the punctuality of our partner and easy identification.
