Fes is partnering with Meknes to create a brand dedicated to the Middle Atlas region, in Northern Morocco, in order to attract visitors from around the world. In partnership with the national tourism office, the airports of Fes and Meknes, the regional tourism council and several riads in the medina of Fes, this consortium is creating a Fes Meknes brand to better showcase the region.
Aerial destination videos are set to be produced and widely broadcast to provide an overall presentation of Fes and its region, as well as the colors, cultures, and character of the region itself. The Riad’s team regularly highlights, to guests who spend two or three nights in the medina, the richness of this region. Indeed, UNESCO was right to classify this city, an essential part of the region, as Fes is one of the imperial cities.
Beyond the medina, the Fes tourism regional council is also seeking to showcase the knowledge, skills, and history of an imperial city and its region. The proximity of Ifrane, Azrou, Immouzer, the thermal spring of Moulay Yacoub and Volubilis make for real tourist attractions.
Fes: The authenticity of a city and a way of life
Within the kingdom itself, airlines will be setting up flights from Marrakech and Casablanca in 2017, as Fes has become a « must have » destination for every tourist in Morocco. An aerial destination film produced by professionals and a European agency will have the merit of showcasing the strengths and qualities of this new tourism brand, allowing viewers to grasp, through the images, all the quality and unique experience offered by the Fes Meknes destination.
This new commercial strategy places great emphasis on repositioning the cities of Fes and Meknes, and marketing professionals will play an important role in making the destination and new Fes Meknes brand appealing and attractive.
Good news for the medina’s business activity and for the Moroccan population, who will benefit from the purchasing power of these Western tourists, and increasingly Chinese tourists, as the new Asian middle classes continue to grow.
