The city of Fes and its iconic Fes medina have approached several European cities to help bring the imperial city closer to visitors curious to discover its history. Now the city of Fes has a new arrival with Strasbourg and its Strasbourg-Entzheim airport, which is opening a direct link between the two cities on June 15, 2017.
Strasbourg-Fes on a direct flight
It is the Air Arabia airline, which has one of its bases in Fes, that is opening a new route from Alsace in France. Until now, few cities in eastern France had direct access to Fes and its Fes Saiss airport. Flights will take place starting in June 2017 on predefined days, Tuesdays and Fridays. The winter season will also have flights between Strasbourg and Fes on the same days of the week. This schedule allows for interesting mid-week trips to enjoy the medina on site.
Basel-Mulhouse was the existing airport that offered a regular route to the Fes medina with more flights per week and direct access between Mulhouse and Fes.
Air Arabia covers the route between Strasbourg and Fes in 3 hours of flight with reasonable comfort for the ticket price. The aircraft chosen are Airbus A320s with a seating capacity of 320 seats. This new route fits perfectly into Fes’s development and its desire to open up to the world and to tourism.
Strasbourg-Fes, sleeping in a riad
Once your flight is booked, you will then need to book your accommodation in a traditional riad in the Fes medina. Indeed, the imperial city offers several types of accommodation within its imperial city. You will surely be looking for a cheap hotel or a riad with a pool, Riad Jamai offers an excellent compromise with an affordable riad with a pool. The guesthouse is the cheapest in the Fes medina and offers very comfortable amenities for a price starting at €40
The Fes riad named Riad Jamaï has been located in the medina since its opening in March 2010 and allows you to discover on foot all the hidden treasures of Fes El Bali
