Following a survey conducted over 6 months on a panel of travelers in Morocco who had covered several kilometers, meaning they had visited several imperial cities of Morocco, passing through Marrakech, Rabat, Meknes and Fes.
The results of this survey show that Fes and its region are the preferred destination of visitors during the 2016 summer period. Fes and its region have been repositioned as a destination in its own right and the selling point for spending an excellent stay in Morocco in terms of culture and richness of heritage, Fes stands out as the destination that best meets this travel wish.
This survey was conducted by the Tourisma Post website, with the region referred to as Central Morocco. In total, more than 95,000 people voted from 37 countries. The region near the Middle Atlas won the vote with 27.33% of votes in its favor. It edges out the « North Cape » region by more than 6% of the votes, just ahead is the great Atlantic South region with a little more than 21% of the vote. These results were presented at an evening event at the end of January where the national tourism office, the municipality of Fes, the hotels of Fes, the guest houses and all the city’s tourism professionals were present.
Fes, the cultural destination of Morocco
The announcement of the results was therefore the moment to present the city’s new marketing plan and its positioning as the great cultural destination of Morocco. The medina offers travelers from around the world exceptional richness with historic sites right within the imperial city itself. Riad Jamai fits fully into this strategy and highlights the undeniable assets that the medina offers: the Quaraouine mosque, the museums, the medersas, the craft squares and souks in every major district of the city.
With this new « Cultural Destination » marketing plan, Fes is also developing new flight routes from cities such as:
- Lyon- Fes
- Strasbourg-Fes
- Bordeaux-Fes
- Rome-Fes
- Amsterdam-Fes
- London-Fes
- Barcelona-Fes
In total, 14 new weekly flights will be launched, bringing Fes within reach of Europe in just 2 hours of direct flight from Fes Saiss airport.
